Connect Through Gratitude

Why Gratitude?

“When eating fruit, remember the one who planted the tree.”Vietnamese Proverb

When we express gratitude and receive the same, our brain releases dopamine and serotonin, the two crucial neurotransmitters responsible for our emotions, and they make us feel 'good'. They enhance our mood immediately, making us feel happy from the inside.

Throughout this year the SEWI team has been grateful. We have been grateful for each other, the support, the check-ins and truly caring about each other's overall wellbeing and happiness. We are a small but mighty team who believes in the power of gratitude and the love that comes with that.  In addition to our team, our board members, interns and community partners, have given their time, talents, passion, and commitment to making our communities a more loving and inclusive place. We would be remiss if we didn’t take the time to thank you, our community, for helping to keep SEWI going through this year.

SEWI in action - So Far this year...

We are also extremely grateful for our successes:

  • We have served 300 youth through direct mental health support & workshops

  • Trained 409 youth development professionals & educators

  • Launched SELFY High School Curriculum - Youth have said  “I like how I got to understand myself more by identifying the boundaries that I have and ways to have a healthy relationship.” “It helped me to discover the true meaning of empathy and the significant difference between sympathy and empathy.”

Throughout the month of November, we will be sharing resources on our social media platforms for all to participate in our Connect Through Gratitude Campaign.  We are blessed and of course grateful, to once again count on the support of our local Starbucks!  Beyond allowing us to share resources at their stores, they are donating a gift basket filled with Starbucks goodies and a gift card to one lucky participant in our gratitude campaign! Follow us on social media to learn more.

We are asking you to please consider a gift to SEWI so we can continue our important work, creating supportive and caring environments for young people and their families  to thrive. Join us in our campaign of Connect Through Gratitude by donating today.

Here are ways you can participate in gratitude this month and beyond!
